January 24, 2008

PRESS RELEASE

900AM WURD TO BROADCAST CITY COUNCIL SESSIONS LIVE STARTING JANUARY 24TH

PHILADELPHIA, PA— 900AM WURD will broadcast live from Philadelphia City Council starting this Thursday, January 24, 2008 from 9:30 a.m. -12:00 p.m. Going forward, throughout this year of 2008, during all official City Council sessions on Thursdays, 900AM WURD will carry the broadcast live.

900AM WURD General Manager Kernie L. Anderson stated, “The work and action of Philadelphia City Council is very important, and as tax payers and citizens of this city, I surely believe that by carrying the Council Sessions live on radio, our radio station will be helpful to making our listeners aware of the legislation, resolutions and other actions that Council members take. Since January of 2007, people in Philadelphia who do not have cable television have been denied the ability to know on a personal basis what’s happening in City Council, accept by being there in person, or hearing about it after the fact in the local media. Now once again, they can hear the decisions being made at City Council, as they are being broadcast live over 900AM WURD.”

900AM WURD Program Director and Host Thera Martin Connelly will anchor two Thursdays out of every month and Bill Anderson, morning show host at WURD will anchor the remaining two Thursdays in the month. From 9:30 a.m. -10:00 a.m. the time will be used to offer commentary on city council members legislative activities. Once the session officially begins, and City Council President Anna C. Verna hits the gavel, the focus of the broadcast will be on the floor of City Council. Immediately before, and following the conclusion of Council session each week, our WURD anchors will do a wrap-up of key legislation passed, or resolutions introduced, and hear brief commentary from Chris Booth, Esq. regarding council session.

In existence for five years in Philadelphia, 900AM WURD is owned by the Lomax Companies, under its LEVAS Communications division. You can listen to the radio broadcast over www.900amwurd.com.
